Raion Taiko & Godaiko Drummers from the Great Lakes Taiko Center (GLTC) Collective are back to bring Taiko drumbeat energy and spirit to kick off the Opening Ceremony for the 2024 Dragon Boat Races (9:30am on Sunday, August 25th) and this year to celebrate the 15th Anniversary of the Orion Art Center’s Annual Dragon on the Lake Festival.

Orion Art Center presents Dragon on the Lake on August 23-25, 2024, for their 15th Year Anniversary of this popular annual end-of-summer festival in Downtown Lake Orion, including the Dragon Boat Races on Sunday August 25th 2024 – including Taiko drumming and Dragon dancers at the Opening Ceremony starting at 9:30am. https://dragononthelake.com

…The Legend of the Lake Orion Dragon dates back to sightings in the mid 1800s. What was ultimately discovered to be a childish prank is now a beloved mascot of this beautiful lake community. Please join us as we celebrate the Dragon!  

Dragon on the Lake serves as the nonprofit Orion Art Center's largest fundraiser. The Orion Art Center works to nurture artistic spirit, with classes, camps, scholarships, exhibits and special events. There are two things we love: infusing art into the community and connecting people with each other.

…Dragon Boat Races are the featured event of the Dragon on the Lake festival where teams compete for the title of Dragon Boat Champions!

This year's race will take place on Sunday, August 25 at Green's Park in Lake Orion, MI.
