Taiko Drumming Performances & MI Bon Dance Workshop

This Sunday afternoon event is free and open to the public, featuring taiko drumming performances and bon dances from our upcoming MI Bon Summer Festival event on SUN August 11th 2024 at Cranbrook.

Come watch members of our GLTC Taiko Arts Collective share some traditional and contemporary taiko drumming pieces, and then join our interactive workshop session in which you can learn more about Bon odori or folk dances (such as the traditional Tanko Bushi or our own Michigan Ondo).

Who can join? All are welcome to join this workshop with *no experience necessary* and fun for all ages (as well as high school and older participants who want to volunteer for the MI Bon dancers team at the festival). Here’s a look at last year’s participants in our MI Bon Dance Workshop 2023:
