BBK CLASS: Participants will learn elements of Bondaiko rhythms on taiko, movements of Bonodori (or bon dance) choreography, and patterns to play on Kane (also called atarigane or chan-chiki) brass percussion, along with vocalizations and song lyrics. Instructions on how to prepare home versions of taiko and kane instruments will be provided. BBK sessions are held on Zoom @GLTC-Online and, weather permitting, additional/optional practice opportunities might be planned outside.

NEW SONG FOR MICHIGAN: Pieces studied by this class in Fall 2020 & Winter 2021 included Tanko Bushi, Tokyo Ondo, Tokyo Gorin Ondo, and Kagayake Bayashi. New this Spring 2021, participants will learn to sing, dance and play "Michigan Ondo" – a special piece composed by Kyoko & Noriko especially for bringing an Obon celebration to our Great Lakes Taiko Center community this year! Michigan Ondo will be premiered by the class this Summer (tentative date is Saturday, August 7th 2021) at our very first Michigan Obon (MI-Bon) Festival event here in Southeast Michigan!
